The Steps of a Good Man: Bill Carter

Bill Carter

One day I simply decided to place my Bible under my arm and begin a preaching ministry..With my old guitar along with it, God opened up many wonderful doors of ministry.  How wonderful to be called according to His purpose.  I had a chance to witness to the country music community that I came out of when Jesus became my new business manager in l961.. Together, Jesus and I went about His Father's business all over the world.  My feet were allowed to walk even on foreign territory as there was a need there that my ministry could meet. I recall one vivid memory that took place on the island of Okinawa in l965. We were there to sing our songs for the military personnel. We met JImmie Tokita and the Mountain Playboys from the Tokyo Japan Grand Ole Opry..We were quartered in the same barracks. On a night off, I attended a concert by these Japanese singers. They offered me a ride back to the barracks from the show.  Riding with those young men who did not speak English; although they could sing American country songs in our language. One of them began singing an old Hank Williams Gospel song called "I Just Told Mama Goodbye"  Would you believe that the Holy Spirit came down in that van and all of us began to weep under the power of God!  A little Japanese fiddle player was so touched that he kept in touch with me many years by mail. That incident really touched my heart and I included this event in my book about my life story entitled "The Steps Of A Good Man". A lot of folks tell me they have secured the publication on line and that makes me very happy indeed.
